Yuelu Academy is inside Hunan University at the foot of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha City. Founded in the Song Dynasty（907-1227），it has over 1000 years history.
The middle of Yuelu Academy is the "lecture hall", which is the core place for teaching and holding major activities. Southern Song Neo Confucianism once held a "lecture" here. There are also a large number of steles and plaques in the academy, such as "Lushan Temple Stele" carved in the Tang Dynasty, and seal characters carved in Jiangxia Leshi; The inscription of "Yuelu Academy" and "Four Professors of Cheng Zi" in Ming Dynasty calligraphy; The imperial plaque reads "Learn to reach the sky" and "Dao Nan Zheng Mai".
Yuelu Academy is an ancient Han academy building, which is one of the four famous academies in History of China. After Zhu Zhang's speech, the Yuelu Academy became famous and was recorded in the history of Chinese academies. In the academy, the main focus is on the engraved plaques of ancient relics and the unique and rustic architectural appearance. The layout of the academy is cleverly designed, full of literati atmosphere, with a serene environment and pleasant scenery
