8 Days Dunhuang Zhangye Lanzhou Tour

Upon arrival at Dunhuang airport/railway station, you are met local guide and transferred to your hotel in Dunhuang City, a county-level city situated in Jiangyuguan, northwest Gansu Province.

After breakfast, transferred ( about 20 minutes drive) to visit Mogao Grottoes, here you can enjoy the magnificent grottoes and mural art, and learn the history of Buddhism in Dunhuang through explanation and film display, which is the best option for tourists to visit Dunhuang. Thereafter, you will  have a visit to Echoing Sand Mountain & Crescent Lake which is also a Crescent Lake that has been in existence for hundreds of years without ever being buried by the sand. Riding the camel (approximately 40mins) as the Silk Road Caravan in the vast desert is highly recommended. Experience the feeling of the camel team marching in the desert. The sound of camel bells is a must-play item for every tourist. In the evening, you will stroll Shazhou Night Market with different types of things to see and food to eat.

After breakfast, you will firstly have a 3-hour driving to the Yangguan Pass  - strategic pass on the ancient Silk Road. And then,you'll pay a visit to the amazing Dunhuang Yadan National Geologic Park (1 hour) - the largest one of Yadan Landform found so far. When finish the tour, you will have another 3-hour driving back to the Dunhuang downtown. After that, have a rest of this day in hotel.

After breakfast,you will be dived about 5 hours to Jiayuguan City. On the raod, you can see the beautiful sightseeings of Qilian Mountain.In the afternoon, you will visit Jiayuguan City Tower,the Great Wall Museum, then processed to Jiayuguan Railway Station to take the train ( D2712 17:43-19:11) to Zhangye City. Opon arrival Zhangye, you will be transferred to your hotel.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to viist Binggou Danxia Scenic Area, which is mainly distributed in Sunan County of Zhangye City. Known as “first under heaven marvelous sight”, it has been successively rated as one of the “7 most beautiful Danxia landforms in China" and one of the “Top 10 Magical Geographic Wonders in the World” by China National Geographic and  National Geographic in USA. Every place is majestic and red in color, making Binggou Danxia a favorite photo spot for photographers. After that, we will head to visit Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park, which is 64.7 kilometres, situated in the north of Qilian mountains. The area includes the colour hills in Linze country, ice hills, Danxia Ganzhou District and Pingshan lake. The scenic is the most typical arid area of northern China. After visiting, transfer back to hotel.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to visit Mati Temple. This temple complex is carved into the side of the mountain, look from outside if you don't like cramped, tight space. It is interesting to climb the steep stairs and narrow passages and enjoy the beautiful views of the valley & mountains. Thereafter, drive back to Zhangye City for a visit to the Big Buddha Temple, which is an important attraction on the Silk Road. In the afternoon, take train from Zhangye to Lanzhou. Upon arrival Lanzhou, your local guide will pick up at Lanzhou Railway Station and transfer you to hotel.

After breakfast, your tour will begin with Gansu Province Museum, which is one of the best sights in the city and a visit is well worthwhile. Then pay a visit to the White Pagoda Park located in the north of Lanzhou City, which owes its name to the amazing White Pagoda within it, is a pure white from top to bottom with the exception of the green top which greatly enhances the glamour of the whole building. And travel to the First Bridge of Yellow River, it is the first highway bridge in the ancient Yellow River, also the second city steel bridge in China. Visit the Waterwheel Garden, which is a theme garden exhibiting the waterwheel culture. Here, we could appreciate the waterwheel driven by the flowing water all year round to collect water from the river or cofferdam.

Today you will say goodbye to Lanzhou, be transferred based on your flight or train schedule. Wish you a pleasant journey!
