It was formed from 1901 to 1912 and is a European style block that integrates embassies, churches, banks, official residences, and clubs. The existing buildings include the French Embassy, the Austro Hungarian Embassy, the Belgian Embassy, the Japanese Embassy and Embassy, the Italian Embassy, the British Embassy, Zhengjin Bank, Citibank, Credit Suisse, the Russo China Bank and International Club, as well as the French Barracks. The existing buildings remain in their original state and maintain the eclectic style popular in Europe and America at the beginning of the 20th century. They are constructed with clean brick skirting and pilasters, brick arches and external corridors, wooden corner purlins, and iron sloping roofs.

Visiting Dongjiaomin Lane is a kind of enjoyment. At the intersection of Dongjiaomin Lane and Zhengyi Road, the dark red western-style building is currently located by Zhongrong Group, but it was originally the site of Japan's Zhengjin Bank and the author Zhang Henshui's founding of "Xinmin Daily". The appearance of the castle style building is unique.
