Mutianyu Great Wall is often built on steep cliffs on the outer side, taking advantage of the mountain to prevent danger. The wall of the Great Wall is seven to eight meters high, with a top width of four to five meters. The building material is mainly granite, which is majestic and sturdy. The Mutianyu Great Wall has a dense number of enemy buildings, and there are currently 22 enemy buildings in the 2250 meter section of the Great Wall that is open. Within a distance of less than 500 meters from one (Dajiao Tower) to four (Zhengguan Tower), there are four enemy towers. This dense distribution pattern of enemy towers is unique to other Great Wall buildings.

Route reference for climbing the Great Wall

Most tourists climb the Great Wall on foot along the hiking trail. There are two trails in the scenic area, starting from the north and south ticket gates. The north ticket gate allows you to walk to the Great Wall from the 10th and 8th platforms; You can walk from the south ticket checkpoint to the Great Wall from the 8th and 6th platforms. The distance between the two trails is similar, about 1500 meters. If you don't want to consume too much physical energy on the trail, you can choose to take the cableway next to the north ticket checkpoint, and the station on the cableway is located near the 14th platform.
