Jiuzhai valley


Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area National Nature Reserve is located in Zhangzha Town, Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, in the southern section of Minshan Mountains in northwest Sichuan Province, and in the northeast of Gonggan Ridge in the southern section of Minshan Mountains. Located over 400 kilometers away from Chengdu, it is a large tributary of the Baishui River in the upper reaches of the Jialing River in the Yangtze River system, with a total area of 65074.7 hectares.

There are four scenic spots in Jiuzhai Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area National Nature Reserve, namely Shuzheng Valley, Zechawa Valley, Rize Valley and Zharu Valley. Among them, there are many scenic spots of different sizes. The main water features are plateau calcified lakes, calcified waterfalls and calcified beaches. The water features are large in scale, numerous in shape, beautiful in layout and good in environment.The forest coverage rate of Jiuzhai Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area National Nature Reserve exceeds 80%. There are 38 kinds of vines and 74 kinds of rare plants under national protection. There are 122 species of terrestrial vertebrates, including 21 species of mammals, 93 species of birds, 4 species of reptiles, and 4 species of amphibians.

Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area is a world natural heritage, a national key scenic spot, a national AAAAA tourist attraction, a national nature reserve, a national geological park, and a network of world biosphere reserves. It is also the first nature reserve in China with the main purpose of protecting natural scenery.
