Chengdu Shopping


As the capital of Sichuan province and a famous tourist city in southwestern China, Chengdu is also known as one of China's shopping paradises. Therefore, shopping is one of the essential activities for tourists visiting Chengdu.

What to buy in Chengdu

Chengdu is located in the Sichuan Basin, with a pleasant climate, fertile land, a long history, unique culture, and abundant natural resources. 

1. Qingcheng Tea  

It not only has a long history of tea production, but also has a wide variety of tea colors and varieties. Qingcheng Xueya Tea is the most famous, which is produced in Qingcheng Mountain, 15 kilometers southwest of Guan County and Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province. 

2. Shu Brocade

Sichuan Embroidery, also called Shu Brocade, is one of the four famous brocades in China, with intricate patterns and fine texture,  which has  a wide variety of colors and superior quality. There are many shops in Wenshu Fang that sell Shu brocade related souvenirs, such as Shujiang Jinyuan, Hao Shuping Studio, Meng Dezhi Studio, etc. Especially in Shujiang Jinyuan, there are all handmade brocade crafts for sale, which can be used to find many affordable and interesting small things, such as small wallets, handmade silk, etc. 

3. Panda Souvenirs

Panda souvenirs commonly include dolls, ornaments, notebooks, postcards, etc. Panda logos and souvenirs can be seen everywhere in Chengdu's airports, hotels, as well as in places such as Jinli, Kuanzhai Alley, and Panda Base Center in Chengdu. The Famous stores such as Panda House and Panda Post Office sell very popular peripheral products. There are also several gift shops in the Panda Base Center. 

Where to buy in Chengdu

Chengdu is one of the busiest cities in southwestern China. If you travel to Chengdu, there are many places to shop there. For example, things in places like Taikoo Li and Meimei Department Store are very expensive. Of course, there are still many affordable business districts in Chengdu, such as Chunxi Road and Yanshikou Commercial District. The list of major commercial districts in Chengdu is as follows:

1. Chunxi Road

Chunxi Road is one of the oldest commercial streets in Chengdu, and it is still bustling today, connecting Zhengkejia Lane, Shusuozhong Middle Street, and other areas to form the busiest commercial district in the city.  This place gathers multiple brand specialty stores, old shopping malls, and various brand discounts, making it a popular shopping destination for people. Apart from shopping, this place gathers several old and famous food shops in Chengdu, where you can enjoy Chengdu snacks all at once.

2. IFC Chengdu

The Chengdu Jiulongcang International Financial Center project is located south of Daci Road, east of Hongxing Road, north of Jiangnan Guan Street, and west of Shamao Street, with a net land area of 82 acres and a total construction area of 760000 square meters. Among them, the shopping center covers an area of 210000 square meters, the Grade A office building covers an area of 250000 square meters, the residential area covers 72000 square meters, and the five-star hotel has 230 guest rooms. The project is a landmark building in the western region invested by Hong Kong's Wharf.

3. Sino-Ocean Taikoo LI Chengdu

This is one of the fashion landmarks in Chengdu, located near Chunxi Road and backed by Daci Temple. It is an open area that integrates shopping, food, and leisure entertainment. Here is the largest MUJI flagship store in the Southwest region, and the first Starbucks with gold service standards - the "All Black Apron Store". In addition, there are various high-end stores such as clothing brands, light luxury brands, famous trendy brands, star rated cuisine, etc., and the famous Fangsuo Bookstore is also located among them. In addition to shopping, beautiful young men and women dressed in trendy clothing can be seen every day in the Taikoo Li neighborhood, which has become a unique scenery in Taikoo Li.

4. MIXC Chengdu (成都万象城)

MIXC is a high-quality commercial real estate brand of China Resources Land. The total construction area of MIXC in Shenzhen is 188000 square meters, and it began trial operation on December 9, 2004. It is a large-scale urban complex with a total construction area of approximately 320000 square meters, including a shopping center of 244000 square meters and a super high-rise Grade A office building of 74000 square meters in China Resources Building. It opened on May 11, 2012.

5. Jinniu Wanda Plaza

Chengdu Jinniu Wanda Plaza is the pinnacle masterpiece after Jinhua Road Wanda Plaza, and the flagship masterpiece of Dalian Wanda Group's western layout. Jinniu Wanda Plaza covers five major business formats: shopping center, fashion district, high-end urban center Huazhai, SOHO furnished apartments, and Grade A office buildings. It integrates various functions such as residential shopping, leisure, catering, culture, and entertainment.

6. Qunguang Square

Qunguang Square, located on the left side of Zhongshan Square, is one of the top shopping areas in Chengdu City, captal of Sichuan Province, in southwest China. Wiith a total of 9 floors, Qunguang Square is a must-see place for most tourists while they visit Chengdu.
