Historical significance

The establishment of the Sanxingdui Museum has led to a renewed understanding of Bashu culture and changed the view of the historical community that compared to the Central Plains region, the ancient Bashu region was a relatively closed place with little or no connection to the Central Plains civilization. The Sanxingdui Museum and its ruins prove that it was an important cultural center in China before and after the Xia and Shang dynasties, or even earlier, and had a certain connection with Central Plains culture, verifying the authenticity of the records of the ancient Shu state in ancient literature.Previously, the historical community believed that the birthplace of the Chinese nation was the Yellow River Basin, which gradually spread throughout China. However, the discovery of Sanxingdui pushed the history of the ancient Shu Kingdom back 5000 years, proving that the Yangtze River Basin, like the Yellow River Basin, was also the birthplace of the Chinese nation. It also proved that there was an ancient civilization in the Yangtze River Basin that was no less than the Yellow River Basin. Some believe that Sanxingdui represents the culture of the ancient Qiang and Yi people
