Hong Kong Museum of History


Hong Kong Museum of History focuses on the natural and human history of the region, with a rich variety of exhibits, mainly showing the development of the region, and the interior decoration combines the themes of each exhibition area, which is delicate and realistic, and gives you a feeling of traveling through time and space and being in the realm of reality.

The first floor displays the natural environment of the area, the development of the area from prehistory to the Qing Dynasty, and a wealth of folklore exhibits. The second floor shows the history of change from a small fishing village to a big city.

The museum's collections are divided into four categories: archaeology, local history, folk history and natural history. Among the archaeological collections, the famous Father Mak Siu Hon Collection and Father Fern Daly Collection; the local history collections are mainly historical photographs, with the earlier ones taken in the 1860s; the folklore collections include models of traditional Chinese fishing boats, fishing equipment, traditional farming implements and daily utensils; and the natural history collections mainly consist of rocks and minerals from around the world, as well as butterflies and mollusks in their shells.
