Tongren Transportation


In ancient times, Tongren, like Xiangxi (West Hunan), was a region with closed transportation. Since 1949, transportation in Tongren has greatly improved. Nowadays, tourists can travel to Tongren by plane, high-speed rail, and long-distance bus from all over the country.


By Air

Tongren Fenghuang Airport (IATA: TEN, ICAO: ZUTR) is located at the junction of Daxing Town, Songtao Miao Autonomous County, Tongren City, Guizhou Province, China and Fenghuang County, Xiangxi Tujia Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. It is 22 kilometers southwest of the city center of Tongren and 28 kilometers northeast of Fenghuang County. It is a 4C level tourism branch airport and a shared airport between Guizhou and Hunan.

In 1972, Tongren Daxing Airport was officially opened for navigation. On October 28, 2009, Tongren Daxing Airport was renamed as Tongren Phoenix Airport In November 2017, Tongren Phoenix Airport was officially put into operation. 

Tongren Phoenix Airport has two terminals, with T1 terminal covering an area of 3000 square meters and T2 terminal covering an area of 23000 square meters. There are 7 Class C parking spaces on the civil aviation apron, of which 6 are nearby parking spaces. The runway is 2600 meters long and 45 meters wide, which can meet the annual passenger throughput of 3 million people.

Tongren Phoenix Airport has successively opened routes to Guiyang, Changsha, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guilin

Transport

Bus: Bus route 20 shuttles between Tongren City and Tongren Phoenix Airport.

Taxi: The taxi pick-up point at Tongren Phoenix Airport is located at the entrance of the terminal building.

Self driving: There is an outdoor parking lot in front of the terminal of Tongren Phoenix Airport, and passengers can enter the parked vehicles according to the guidance signs.

By Train

There are two railways in Tongren City that have been completed and opened to traffic, with a total length of 118 kilometers, namely the Hunan Guizhou Railway Double Line and the Chongqing Huaihua Railway. The Shanghai Kunming Railway Passenger Dedicated Line has a length of 36.65 kilometers and a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The total length of the Tongren to Yuping Railway is 47.7 kilometers, with a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

Tongren Railway Station, located in Bijiang District, Tongren City, Guizhou Province, China, is a second-class station under the jurisdiction of China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. It is also an intersection station of Chongqing Huaihua Railway and Tongyu Railway. Tongren Station was founded in 2001 and began operating on July 1, 2006. The high-speed train was launched on December 26, 2018.

Tongren South Railway Station is located in Yuping County, Tongren City, Guizhou Province, China. It was renovated and expanded from Yuping Station and is a passenger station under the jurisdiction of China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd. It is also the first station of the Shanghai Kunming high-speed railway after entering Guizhou. Tongren South Railway Station was put into use on June 18, 2015, with the opening and operation of the Xinhuang West to Guiyang North section of the Shanghai Kunming high-speed railway. Electronic passenger tickets were put into trial operation on December 10, 2019.


By Bus

Tongren City has built more than 100 highway hub center service stations and county and township stations, including more than 60 passenger stations. The Yuping section of the G60 Shanghai Kunming Expressway, the Dashi section of the G56 Hangrui Expressway, the Sizun section of the G56 Hangrui Expressway, the Sinan County to Jianhe County in Qiandongnan Prefecture via Shiqian County (Sijian Expressway), and the Tongren to Dalong Expressway (S15 Tongda Expressway) have been completed and opened to traffic. The Songtong Expressway has also been completed and opened to traffic.
