Hengshan is the northern peak among the "Five Sacred Mountains". Hengshan is not only beautiful in scenery, but also an important birthplace of Taoism. There are many Taoist temples and shrines on the mountain, and it is said that Zhang Guolao, one of the "Eight Immortals", practiced Taoism on Hengshan.
Looking east from the parking lot, you can see the rugged cliffs of Da Zi Wan carved with the words "Heng Zong", which is also a distinctive stone carving on Mount Heng and is considered a symbol of the mountain.
The Hengzong Hall is a highlight of the Hengshan Temple Cluster, built on the steep cliffs of the mountainside, with a large scale. In the main hall, the Great Emperor of Beiyue is enshrined, and above the pedestal are the four characters "Hua Chui Chang Chang" written by Emperor Kangxi. It is worth mentioning that there are 103 steep steps in front of the mountain gate, which slope forward by about 30-40 degrees and require both hands and feet to climb up. In front of the Hall of Emperor Heng, you can overlook the scenery of Mount Heng, with a great view.
