Huayan Temple was first built in 1038 and covers an area of 66000 square meters. It is an early and well preserved architectural complex of Liao and Jin temples in China. In March 1961, it was announced as one of the first national key cultural relics protection units, and in April 2014, it was rated as a national AAAA level tourist attraction.
This Northern Buddhist Palace, which flourished in the western capital during the Liao and Jin dynasties, has a long history, large scale, and superb craftsmanship in its architecture, sculptures, wall paintings, flat coffins, and coffered ceilings. It can be regarded as an art museum of the Liao and Jin dynasties. The main hall, the the Shakya ManiHall, is nine rooms wide, with a single building area of 1559 square meters. It is a Buddha hall in the Liao and Jin Dynasties.
Huayan Temple, the ancient temple in Yunzhong, is a treasure of history, the essence of cultural relics, and the crystallization of Chinese culture.
