Xuankong Temple is located between the cliffs of Cuiping Peak in Jinlongxia, Hengshan. It was first built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and has a history of more than 1500 years. It is one of the earliest and best preserved high-altitude wooden cliff buildings in China.
The entire temple is suspended on a steep cliff, cleverly built according to the terrain using the concave and convex parts of the cliff, appearing particularly staggered and orderly. After visiting the Hanging Temple, the poet Li Bai wrote down the word "spectacular" with his pen. However, after finishing it, he still felt that it did not reflect his excitement enough. He added a little more to the word "strong", which is still engraved on the rocks at the foot of the temple today.
The temple consists of three parts, with the first part being a complete temple layout built between cliffs. The second and third parts are truly "suspended" on the cliff, and the wooden boardwalk connecting the two parts seems to float in mid air. Visitors walk on top and look at the cliff below, their hearts cannot help but hang up.
