Emei Mountain Ecological Monkey Area, located near the "Yixiantian" below Hongchunping and above Qingyinge, is the largest wild monkey area in China.

Under the leadership of the Monkey King, the monkeys here are very domineering, not afraid of people at all. They actively seek out people to play and even carry sticks to ask for food in the middle of the road. It is a living landscape of Mount Emei.

The scientific name of the Emei Mountain monkey species is Tibetan macaque, which is a national second-class protected animal. It is also known as Sichuan short tailed monkey, big green monkey, or short tailed monkey.

Due to living in a Buddhist mountain for a long time, it is called "Monkey layman" and feeds on the leaves, flowers, and fruits of plants. There are currently three family wild populations in the monkey area, with a total of about 400 individuals.

The Emei Mountain monkey group also follows a 9-to-5 daily routine. Every morning, as the administrator plays gongs and whistles, the monkeys appear one after another under the leadership of the Monkey King, playing and frolicking with tourists. After 5 pm, they bid farewell to the tourists under the urging of the administrator.
