Tujia Brocade, also known as Tujia Batik, and usually called Xilankapu or Dahua by Tujia people people in Wuling Mountain Area, is one of the brocades of ethnic minorities in China.
Tujia brocade is popularly and mostly used for bedding. In Tujia language language, it is called "Xilan Kapu", which means "Tuhua Bedding". The long tradition of Tujia chiefs in weaving has been preserved until the time when the land was changed and returned to the mainstream. Both men and women of Tujia Ethnic still maintain the custom of "liking colorful clothes".
Throughout history, Tujia brocades have been presented as first-class tribute or famous local specialties by the chieftains and officials to the court. As a fabric invented by the Tujia people in labor and production, Tujia brocade is closely related to the lives of the Tujia people. During major festivals, sacrifices, weddings, and celebrations, Tujia brocade is used as an important tool, and even becomes an indispensable token or deity in activities.
