Tianmen Mountain is the extension of Wuling Mountains eastward into Dongting Lake Plain. Within the Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area, there are over 30 peaks with an altitude of over 1000 meters, among which Yuhu Peak is the highest, with an altitude of 1518.6 meters.

Tianmen Mountain Forest Sightseeing Cableway is located on the top of Tianmen Mountain. It extends from the site of "Cloud Dream Summit", (Yunmeng Xianding 云梦仙顶 in Chinese) to the Cherry Bay Square in front of Tianmen Mountain Temple. with a total length of 800 meters,it runs one-way travel about 10 minutes. As an uncovered two person hanging chair, the cableway is an excellent aerial viewing corridor on the top of Tianmen Mountain.
