Chunyang Palace was first built in the Yuan Dynasty. The two characters "Chunyang" in Chunyang Palace are the names of Lu Dongbin, a famous Taoist and one of the Eight Immortals of the Tang Dynasty. After Wang Chongyang founded the Quanzhen School of Taoism, Lu Dongbin was also revered as one of the "Five Ancestors of the North", so it is also commonly known as the "L ü Ancestral Temple". Now this is the Shanxi Provincial Art Museum.
The Lü Zu Hall is the main hall of the Pure Yang Palace, located in the center of the courtyard and is a magnificent building within the palace. Above the Lvzu Hall is an octagonal pyramidal roof, and below it is a winged eaves, which is dedicated to the statues of Lv Dongbin, Wang Chongyang and Qiu Chuji.
The courtyard behind the palace is also worth a visit. Although the area of the courtyard is not large, the architectural layout is quite unique. It is said to be built according to the direction of the Eight Trigrams and has distinct Taoist architectural features.
