"Looking at Shanxi with a history of five thousand years", the Shanxi Museum, located at Binhe West Road, Taiyuan City, gathers the essence of Shanxi's cultural relics. The Shanxi Museum consists of a main hall and four corner auxiliary buildings. The main hall is shaped like a bucket and a tripod, and is the main place for tourists to visit the collections in the museum.
The main museum has four floors, with a main service desk located in the lobby on the first floor, historical and cultural exhibitions on the second and third floors, and art exhibitions on the fourth floor. These exhibitions constitute the basic display of Shanxi Museum.
The Historical and Cultural Special Exhibition showcases the splendid aspects of Shanxi's 5000 year civilization process, from the relics of ancient humans in ancient times to the rise and fall of Jin merchants in the Ming and Qing dynasties over the past 500 years, through numerous cultural relics and treasures.
Bird Zun, a bronze ware from the Western Zhou Dynasty, was a ceremonial vessel used in the worship of Jin Hou's ancestral temple. The shape of the bird statue is extremely exquisite, with the phoenix as the main body. There is a small bird on the belly and back of the phoenix, which is used as a catch on the bird statue's lid. At the tail of the phoenix, there is an elephant with a long trunk that perfectly complements the phoenix's legs, forming a three legged stance to ensure the stability of the bird's dignity. This collection is a representative work of bronze ware held in the courtyard.
