Fanjing Mountain is a famous scenic spot in Tongren City of Guizhou, known as the "No.1 mountain in Guizhou". There are two mountain gates to enter: the east gate and the west gate, you can check Fanjing Mountain Tours Map.
The difference between the east and west gates is as below:
1. The location of the mountain is different, with the east gate in Jiangkou County and the west gate in Yinjiang County;
2. The climbing methods are different. The east gate can be accessed by cable car, while the west gate can only be accessed on foot;
3. The scenery along the way is different. At the foot of the east mountain, there is the Heiwan River. During the mountain journey, there are attractions such as Longquan Temple, Guanyin Waterfall, and Wangfo Pavilion. At the west gate, you enter from Huguo Temple and walk along the Cotton Wool Ridge, where you can see the landscape of sleeping Buddha for ten thousand meters.

Sept 1: Get into the scenic area of Fanjing Mountain from the East Gate
The East Gate of Fanjing Mountain Scenic Area is located in Taipinghe Township of Jiangkou County. Here, Heiwan River runs in the valley. There is a tourist service center here, and there is Fan Street nearby, making food and accommodation very convenient.
The eastern gate of Fanjing is 65 kilometers away from Tongren City, and it takes about an hour and a half by car. Fanjing Mountain is 21 kilometers away from Jiangkou County, and it takes about half an hour by car.
After entering the entrance gate, you can take shuttle bus to the lower cable-way station.
Step 2: Take cable car up to Fanjing Mountain
It is about 10 kilometers from the east gate of Fanjing Mountain to the cable car station at the foot of Fanjing Mountain. Tourists can take the Shuttle bus here and take the cable car directly to the top of the mountain.
The total length of the Fanjingshan Cableway is 3514 meters, with a height difference of 1200 meters between the upper and lower stations. There are 3200 steps from the lower station of the cableway at Yu'ao to Wanbaoyan, also Upper Cable-way Station, and the fastest operation of the cableway is only 14 minutes. It is diffult to climb for most people and it will take over 3 hours to walk.
As the cable car on the cableway moved forward, mountains and waters weighed heavily, and amidst the misty clouds and mist, Mount Fanjing displayed its beauty to the fullest. As the cableway continued to rise, clouds opened and mist dispersed, and a vast sea of clouds emerged among the mountains. The autumn atmosphere of Mount Fanjing bloomed in the mottled season. This fairyland on earth is admirable.
Step 3: Walk from the Upper Cable-way Station to the Old Golden Summit
The cableway station stands at an altitude of 2100 meters. After getting off the cable car, tourists have to walk along the steps. At this moment, tourists can see a stone that looks like a falling stone standing halfway up the mountain. This stone is called Wanbao Rock.
Wanbo Rock
Wanbao Rock is not an ordinary stone Its appearance looks simple and rough, but it is a living fossil from the chronicle of Mount Fanjing. It is said that ten to fourteen billion years have been presented on this stone. The official name of this large stone is "Dishuo Rock", also known as Wanbao Rock. Its body started from the disintegration of the crust, and underwent uplift and inversion during geological movements, as well as billions of years of wind and sun exposure. It contains calcium, iron, and other non-ferrous metals, and is also carrying volcanic debris...

Pure Heart Pool
Starting from Wanbao Rock and walking up the stone steps, you can see a spring water not far away, known as the "Pure Heart Pool". This is a clear spring. The spring water seeps out from the mountain walls and drips into the pond.
This puddle of clear water symbolizes washing the heart and making it clean as before. Tourists passing by here will use this water to wash their hands. It is said that drinking this water can bring their financial luck home.
Dragon & Phoenix Pavilion
Not far from the Pure Heart Pool, you can see a Dragon & Phoenix Pavilion in the mountain, standing in the corner of the steps, facing the wind. Its unique appearance tells visitors that there must have been a beautiful legend here.
Tianshi, Street market in the sky
Further ahead, you will arrive at Tianshi, which means the street market in the sky. It is like a street, also known as the Cross Street, and is known as Tianshi by those who come and go. At most, there were 48 medicine stalls. Now, this is a small shop selling handicrafts, with a small storefront. Various artworks mixed with the colors of Mount Fanjing make visitors stop to watch and buy.
Pudu Square
Not far ahead from Tianshi, you can see a temple - Cheng'en Temple. It is Pudu Square in front of the temple. Standing at Pudu Square, you can see the Red Cloud Golden Summit and the Old Golden Summit. The highest peak of Mount Fanjing is 2572 meters. With the drifting of the airflow, the isolated peak of the Red Cloud Golden Summit is hidden in the clouds and mist, and is clearly visible, making people feel like they are in a mystical world.
Getting to the top of Fanjing Mountain, you can climb the Red Cloud Golden Summit, and also go the Old Golden Summit to see the Mushroom Rock. Thereafter, you should go back and take the cble-way down the mountain. It will take you around 5 hours to have a visit of Fanjing Mountain.
