With an altitude of 1518 meters, Tianmen Mountain was known as Songliang Mountain in ancient times. Standing like a huge natural barrier, it is 8 km away from the south bank of Lishui River in the urban area of Zhangjiajie City.
Praised as the "Sprit of Wuling", an old name of the county here, it was named Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park IN 1992, and it was listed as a national 5A scenic area in 2007. Nowadays, it becomes one of the must-see destinations of Zhnagjiajie to visit for tourists from home and abroad.
