Guigu Plank Road, name after Gui Guzi, a famous also known as Guigu Zhandao 鬼谷栈道 in Chinese, is a scenic spot located in Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park in Zhangjiajie. Located in the middle of a vast cliff between the Yihong Pass and the Small Tianmen Cave, the Ghost Valley Plank Road has a total length of 1600 meters which is built on the cliff with 1400 meters above sea level. Yihong Pass, also known as Yihong Guna 倚虹关 in Chinese, is not only the ending point of the Tianmen Mountain West Line Glass Skywalk but also the starting point of the Guigu Plank Road. Standing at Yihong Pass, you can find the two undulating peaks distributed in the west. Chisong Peak is on the far left, Nearby the Chisong Peak, it is Heshangnao Peak, which means the "monk's brain" because it resembles the monk's hat worn by a monk. In the middle of the Chisong Peak and Heshangnao Peak, it is a huge stone cliff which opens up a deep and bottomless canyon. Above the canyon, there is a natural stone strip that connects the two sides like a rainbow, hence the name "Broken Mountain Rainbow Bridge". And Here you are standing is named "Yihong Guan", means the pass is near the rainbow.
Guigu Cave is located in a square shape inside the western line of the Tianmen Mountain Peak,. Facing an abyss with a steep terrain, It is 100 meters away from the top of the mountain . It is said that the Master of Guiguzi once lived in seclusion here to practice, study the Book of Changes, teach the local people the "Guigu Divine Skill" (named "Dayong Hard Qigong" today), and he wrote the famous book "Guiguzi".
Small Tianmen Cave is the ending site of the Guigu Plank Road. The cave, located on the above side of the plank road, is a natural n-shaped hole. It is about 5 meters wide and 10 meters high. Compared to the huge and famous Tianmen Mountain Cave, this cave is much smaller, so it is named the Small Tianmen Cave.
There are lots of beautiful attractions along the way of Gugu Plank Road. On the boardwalking, you can enjoy magnificent mountains, unique stone peaks, and magical sea of clouds if it rains.
