Stone Village is located on Biandan Mountain in Zhenning County, southwestern Guizhou Province. The village is built along the mountain, and all the houses are made of stone.
The stone houses are stacked layer by layer, with an orderly layout and rich ethnic characteristics. Shitouzhai, locally known as "Banbosen" in Buyi language, means "backed by a rocky mountain, living in a stone house for generations". Landscape is a residential building constructed of stone. It uses stones as walls, corridors, columns, and tiles.
The stone houses are stacked layer by layer, following the hillside from bottom to top. Beside the bamboo forest and under the trees, there are also stone benches, chairs, and tables for rest and entertainment. Even the roads in the village are paved with stone slabs.
The owners of the stone houses are all Buyi people, and the men in the family are all skilled stonemasons. Their skills have been passed down from generation to generation, and they design and build their own houses.
