Flavors and delicacies in Tongren

Tongren is located in the eastern Fanjing Mountain area of Guizhou Province. The local cuisine is somewhat salty, but not too spicy, and the snacks are very cheap. There are many flavors and delicacies in Tongren, and now they are introduced as follows:

Songtao Red-Stewed Duck 

It is one of the top ten delicacies in Guizhou, and it is also the intangible cultural heritage of Songtao County, Tongren City, Guizhou Province. 

Songtao Red-Stewed Duck is taken the old duck of local excellent duck and marinate it in the secret brine for three hours. The braised duck emits a tempting aroma, with delicate and delicious meat. With a sip of it, most people in Tongren would like to have one every now and then to satisfy their cravings.


Tongren Mung bean Noodles 

It is one of the favorite foods of the Tongren people, with a cultural history of several hundred years.

Jiangkou Rice Tofu

Jiangkou rice tofu is a popular snack for all ages. Although it is called rice tofu, it is actually made from local high-quality sticky rice and has nothing to do with tofu.

Yanhe glutinous rice stuffed bun 

This is a special food of Tongren Tujia nationality. The unique feature of this kind of bun is that it uses glutinous rice flour and sticky Rice noodles as its skin, and the stuffing is mainly pork powder and bean curd granules.

Tongren Community Rice

Also called Tongren She Meal, Tongren Community Rice is a traditional specialty food of Tongren. The main ingredients are sticky rice and glutinous rice, supplemented by artemisia, wild onions, bacon, dried tofu, peanuts and other side dishes, mixed evenly and steamed in a pot.

Tongren Tangmayuan

Tangmayuan, also known as the Sugar Glutinous Rice Ball, is a classic street snack in Tongren and a childhood memory for many local people.

Tangmayuan is a snack made from glutinous rice and sesame as raw materials. The syrup boiled with brown sugar is golden and tempting, sprinkled with sesame for a more fragrant taste.
