Tongren Grand Canyon Tourist Area is located in the southern part of Daxing Town, Songtao Miao Autonomous County, near Tongren Fenghuang Airport. It is 25 kilometers away from Tongren City, 35 kilometers away from Fenghuang Ancient City in Hunan Province, and within 500 kilometers from provincial capitals such as Guiyang, Changsha, and Chongqing. The gate of Daxing Expressway near the airport is about 7 kilometers away from the Tongren Grand Canyon scenic area. Taking a plane from Tongren Phoenix Airport can provide a beautiful view of the Tongren Grand Canyon from high altitude.
The karst topography has created numerous canyons in the Wuling Mountains, but the Tongren Grand Canyon is one of the most representative and outstanding among them. The river water of Tongren Grand Canyon originates from the Suma River in Kerong, Fenghuang La'er Mountain area, passes through Panxin and Miaowang City, and converges with other rivers in Songtao to reach the Machao River. The Tongren Grand Canyon runs from the outlet of the Macao River Power Station to the dam of the Tianshengqiao Power Station. The scenic area features clear water and unique rocks, lush forests and flowers, shrouded in clouds and mist, steep cliffs, karst caves and waterfalls, and charming scenery.
