Solitary Beauty Peak

Duxiu Peak, also known as Solitary Beauty Peak, is located within the Jingjiang Prince City in the center of Guilin and is a famous peak in Guilin. Climbing Duxiu Peak offers a panoramic view of the surrounding urban area, and some ancient and modern famous stone carvings on the mountain are also eye-catching, especially the famous saying "Guilin's landscape is the best under heaven", which comes from the stone carvings at the foot of Duxiu Peak.

Behind the sleeping palace of Jingjiang Prince City is the Duxiu Peak, which stands out abruptly in the shape of a knife or axe. Surrounded by mountains, the solitary peak stands proudly, resembling the dignity of an emperor. The steps of Duxiu Peak are steep and wide, with a narrow surface that cannot tolerate short stops. To the south of the mountain, there are three "shou" characters perpendicular to the line. The character "Shou" above it has clear strokes and an ethereal meaning, which is said to have been bestowed by Empress Dowager Cixi in the late Qing Dynasty (1645-1911).

In addition, there are many stone carvings along the way, such as the Southern Heavenly Pillar, but the famous one is none other than the line in the poem written by Wang Zhenggong, an official of the Southern Song Dynasty, which reads "Guilin's mountains and waters are the best under heaven.". After climbing to the summit, you can enjoy a top-down view of the surrounding peaks and the Jingjiang Prince's Mansion below, which is also a great bird's-eye view of Guilin City. Climbing to the summit always gives you a sense of openness. At the foot of Duxiu Peak, there is Taiping Rock, originally named "Xiyan". Wang Gonghui of Jingjiang discovered a copper coin called "Taiping Tongbao" in the rock, which was considered a sign of auspiciousness, so it was renamed "Taiping Rock".
