Chengkan Village

Chengkan Village is a famous village located 31 kilometers north of Tunxi District, Huangshan City. It is about 8 kilometers away from Qiankou and 4 kilometers away from Tangmo. They are all on the same tourist route. Chengkan Village is famous for its Huizhou style ancient architecture, and its architectural layout is like the Yin Yang Bagua diagram. There are not only Ming Dynasty buildings with three floors here, which are ancient high-rise buildings, but also rare buildings from the Song and Yuan Dynasties. The most famous ancient architecture among them is the Baolun Pavilion.

There are multiple roads lead to the village. The main entrance and ticket office are located at the southwest corner nearby the Bus Station. At the position of  100 meters away from the ticket office, there is an observation deck where you can take panoramic photos of the village. On the right front of the observation deck, there is a hill with a Huizhou style village on it, which is also a place where you can take a panoramic view of Chengkan Village.

At the main entrance of Chengkan, there is a lake of water. There is a bridge on the lake, and the white walls and black tiles of the village are reflected in the lake. The scenery is very beautiful. In spring, the rapeseed flowers at the village entrance are in full bloom; In summer, the lotus flowers in the lake are in full bloom, and the scenery is charming.

According to research, Chengkan Village was relocated by the Luo brothers in the late Tang Dynasty. The Luo family and their descendants built the village into a village that conforms to the Yin Yang Eight Trigrams. The streets and alleys here are well connected. After entering the village, you will feel as if you have entered the Eight Trigrams Enchanting Souls Formation, and you don't know where to leave the village.

There are many major ancient buildings in Chengkan. Changchun Society, built in the Song Dynasty, is located in the southeast corner of the village where the Earth God is worshipped. Huanxiu Bridge, built during the Yuan Dynasty, is located in the northeast of the village. There is a pavilion at the end of the bridge, and the Huanxiu Pavilion next to the bridge houses many Huizhou old wood carvings and embroidery. The Luo Hui Tai Mansion is also an ancient building built during the Yuan Dynasty.

Baolun Pavilion, built in the Ming Dynasty, is located in the northeast of the village. This is a three in temple. The first entrance is the instrument door; The second entrance is the main hall, with a plaque inscribed by Dong Qichang. The several golden silk nanmu pillars in the hall are priceless; The third entrance is Baolun Pavilion. After arriving at Baolun Pavilion, you must look up at the roof. Look, the two ends of the beam are carved with patterns, and most of the beams have painted patterns. What's even more wonderful is that some of these patterns are even faintly distinguishable in color, and they are incredibly beautiful!

In addition, the Yan Yi Tang and Luo Runkun Mansion built in the Ming Dynasty are both worth a visit.  Yanyi Hall, located at No.1 Tiandeng Lane, has three floors. The gate of this house is studded with iron nails, and there are many components on the beams and columns, which are impressive.  Luo Runkun's Mansion is located at 66 Qianjie, with two floors high. The windows of the house are exquisitely carved, and the beautiful woman's seat and window railing upstairs are also very beautiful.

In the southeast corner outside the village, there is a large Ming Dynasty single arch stone bridge called Longxing Bridge. You can also take a walk and take a look on that bridge.

The commercialization level of Chengkan Village is not high, and visitors can buy some water tofu and hairy tofu from vendors to taste. There are also several hotels and inns in the village for tourists to stay.
