Huangshan Travel Tips

Huangshan,  famous for the Yellow Mountain, is a popular destination in China for most tourists visiting  from home and abroad. Here lists Huangshan Travel Tips for you to know more information before you travel to Huangshan.

1. When to visit

When visiting the cultural landscape in Mount Huangshan City, you should choose a spring with suitable temperature; Those who climb Mount Huangshan Mountain should pay special attention to the information related to mountaineering, such as weather and temperature. It is cold in winter, so remember to bring warm clothes.

Some peaks in Mount Huangshan are subject to the rotation rest system. Before going there, check whether the peaks you want to visit are open. Also, in winter, some dangerous areas (Tiandufeng, Xihai Grand Canyon) will be closed, so it is important to check (0559-8510058) for relevant information in advance.

2. Take a taxi

1) The driver was very enthusiastic when he saw the tourists from other places. He told you that you can charter a car to Mount Huangshan Scenic Area for only 30-50 yuan. There are more than 100 kilometers from the urban area to Mount Huangshan Scenic Area, and you have to pass two toll booths. If you believe you can get there for 30-50 yuan, you have been cheated;

2) Most drivers are still good. The rental fee for Santana and above models in Tunxi Mount Huangshan Scenic Area is about 150 yuan -180 yuan (4 people at most);

3) If you get on his car, the driver will recommend you not to go up the mountain that day, but to charter his car to travel to the scenic spots around Mount Huangshan, and take you to the scenic spots and hotels recommended by him, from which he will get a high rebate;

4) If you get into his car, tell him that you have booked a hotel and paid the fare, and the driver will find a reason to let you off halfway and charge a high fare.

3.  Do not approach strangers

Like other large tourist cities in China, Mount Huangshan Railway Station solicits tourists. There are many people soliciting tourists on the train or at the station. In recent years, CCTV has exposed many cases of illegal solicitation and extortion of passengers on trains, and I believe tourists are somewhat wary. If you are already on the train and cannot distinguish authenticity, the best way is to sign a travel contract. Before signing, be sure to carefully check the contents of the travel contract, whether the travel itinerary and package payment are correct, whether the travel agency seal is clear, and whether the introducer is an employee of the travel agency.

4. Yellow Mountain Hiking

1) Due to the high physical exertion required for climbing, it is recommended to redistribute luggage and travel light before going up the mountain. Large items other than valuables, warm clothing, and valid identification are stored at the transfer center at the foot of the mountain. Each person should prepare sufficient water and dry food according to their personal situation. The prices on the mountain are relatively high, so it is best to bring your own dry food and a small amount of water, but not too heavy;

2) It is windy in Mount Huangshan Mountain, and there are thunderstorms in summer. It is not suitable to climb the mountain in thunderstorm days, let alone hold the iron rope or shelter from rain under a tree, let alone hold an umbrella;

3) Do not climb high peaks during thunderstorms, especially the Tiandu and Lianhua peaks. Do not use your hands to support iron chains, and avoid rain under trees. Turn off your phone to prevent lightning strikes.

4) The mountain is high and the road is steep. When swimming in the mountains, it is advisable to take slow steps and not go too fast. Slightly bend forward and walk in a "Z" shape, which is both effortless and relaxed.

5) People with hypertension and heart disease should not travel alone in the mountains or face dangerous situations, in addition to carrying essential emergency medicines with them; Elderly and young should be accompanied by family members;

6) When taking photos on steep and dangerous mountain peaks, the photographer should not move after choosing the angle, and be especially careful not to retreat to prevent accidents.

7) Walking and watching during the tour not only distracts attention, but also makes it easy to stumble. Therefore, tourists should remember the principles of "not walking to see the scenery, not walking to see the scenery" and "not letting go of the big scenery, not lingering in the small scenery";

8) Mount Huangshan has many stone steps and paths, and there are many dangerous sections. When climbing, you should lean forward, especially when walking downhill. For safety reasons, bamboo sticks or canes can be purchased when climbing.

5.  Medical Service

The larger hospitals in the urban area of Mount Huangshan include Mount Huangshan People's Hospital, the Second People's Hospital and the Third People's Hospital, which are closer to the city center.

There is no hospital in Huangshan Scenic Area, but fixed emergency rooms have been set up in Beihai, Tianhai, Yupinglou and other tourist centers, emergency centers have been set up in hot spring areas, and comprehensive cooperation has been established with hospitals in surrounding urban areas such as Huangshan Emergency Center. There is no need to worry about those who have difficulties going down the mountain. There are stretchers on the mountain that will send the patients to the outpatient department of Huangshan Sanatorium behind the Huangshan Hotel.
