Nanping Ancient Village

Nanping Ancient Village, located in the southwest of Yi County, Anhui Province, is a millennium old and large-scale ancient village. It is known as the Chinese Film and Television Village due to the filming of famous films such as "Ju Dou" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".

Nanping Village is also a famous historical and cultural village in China, a national 4A scenic spot, and a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Since the migration of the Ye surname from Baima Mountain in Qimen in the late Yuan Dynasty, the village has rapidly expanded, and the Ming Dynasty has formed a pattern of gathering and dividing the three major clans of Ye, Cheng, and Li. Especially after the mid Qing Dynasty, due to the competition and progress among the three major surnames, Nanping Village entered its heyday.

There are over a thousand people in the entire village of Nanping, but there are 36 water wells, 72 ancient alleys, and more than 300 ancient Ming and Qing residences. There are still 8 ancestral halls, including a considerable number of ancestral halls, branch halls, and family halls, preserved in the village to this day. Therefore, Nanping Village is praised by tourists as the "Museum of Chinese Ancient Ancestral Hall Architecture".

Nanping is a typical representative of the unique architectural landscape of ancient villages in southern Anhui, composed of a combination of secluded streets and alleys, ancestral halls, and ancient residences.
