Qiyun Mountain

Qiyun Mountain is 33km west of Mount Huangshan City, with an altitude of 585m. Qiyun Mountain is a Danxia landform, with not only lush vegetation but also spectacular Tang Dynasty cliff carvings.

Qiyun Mountain Scenic Area is divided into Yuehua Street Scenic Area, Loushanglou Scenic Area, Yunyan Lake Scenic Area, Hengjiang Scenic Area, and Yunyan Lake Scenic Area.

If you want to visit Qiyun Mountain, tourists can either hike or ride a cable. The pedestrian climbing of Qiyun Mountain is located at Dengfeng Bridge, 600 meters away from the lower station of the cableway.

Travelers can enjoy the pastoral scenery at the foot of Qiyun Mountain by taking the cableway up. After standing on the cableway, you can come to Feiyun Pavilion and have a bird's-eye view of the beautiful scenery of Qiyun Mountain.

The Tang Dynasty cliff carvings were distributed on the front mountain of Qiyun Mountain. Among them, the Zhenxian Cave is particularly spectacular. The cliffs are covered with caves, and the top of the cave is inscribed with four large Chinese characters: "Heavenly Opening and Divine Beauty". Various statues of immortals are enshrined in the caves. From the top of the cliff, pearl springs continuously drip into the clear pool below.

Walking to the end of the Yuehua Street scenic area, passing through the doorway, you can see a gourd shaped stone archway called "Little Hutian". Then you arrive at a grotto where you can carefully observe the footprints of ancient dinosaurs on the top. It takes about half an hour to climb from Yuehua Street to the peak of Qiyun Mountain.

Most tourists return to Yuehua Street by the same route. If they want to head towards the back mountain, they can stay overnight on Yuehua Street, otherwise there won't be enough time. Yuehua Street is a village on the mountainside. Although there are not many tourists staying on the mountain, it is still better to make a reservation for accommodation in advance.

The best time to visit Qiyun Mountain is in April when rapeseed flowers bloom. The golden flower fields and the Huizhou style villages with white walls and black tiles are like a traditional Chinese painting.

Walking towards Yuehua Street from Qianshan, there is always Xianglu Peak on the right side, which is a representative of the peaks of Qiyun Mountain due to its exquisite design. There is a pavilion at the top of the peak. There is a road leading to the peak next to the Immortal Cave, but the road is difficult to walk and slippery on rainy days.

The scenic area upstairs is located on the back mountain. There is a fork in the road leading to Fangla Village in front of Yuxu Palace, and there is a downhill road leading to the Bamboo Raft Wharf here. Arriving upstairs, you can see the naturally formed two layers of grottoes.

After descending the mountain, you can take a bamboo raft and drift all the way to Dengfeng Bridge. Dengfeng Bridge is a stone bridge built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, with a village on the opposite bank featuring Huizhou style architecture. In spring, when rapeseed flowers bloom, the scenery in this area is no less than that of the popular scenic spots in Wuyuan, Jiangxi to see rapeseed flowers.
