Tangyue Memorial Archways


Tangyue Memorial Archways is located in Tangyue Village, She County, Mount Huangshan City, 6 kilometers west of She County. Tangyue Village is also an ancient village with a history of over 800 years. There are seven ancient memorial archway built in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) in the eastern suburbs of the village.

In ancient times, each memorial archway could only be built with the emperor's approval, to honor the national moral model at that time. There are seven memorial archway in this village, which are rare in China.

The seven memorial archway, one by one, cross the country path with great momentum. Next to the memorial archway is a hilly farmland. Each memorial archway has a master and a historical story. Tangyue memorial archway is famous both at home and abroad. In the peak tourist season, tourists come here in an endless stream.

About 500 meters away from Tangyue memorial archway, you can see two large-scale ancient buildings, that is, Bao Family Ancestral Hall. The vast majority of residents in Tangyue Village are surnamed Bao, and the ancestral hall houses the Bao family.

The ancestral hall is divided into Dunben Hall, also known as Bao Family Male Ancestral Hall; There is also the Qingyi Hall, also known as the Bao Family Ancestral Hall. Among them, female ancestral halls were very rare in ancient China. The Bao Family Ancestral Hall is the only female ancestral hall in the country, built specifically for the virtuous women and martyrs of the Bao family throughout history.

Tangyue Village also has Baojia Garden, which is a private garden owned by the famous Huizhou merchant Bao Qiyun in the Qing Dynasty. The garden is equipped with all kinds of rockeries, ponds, pavilions, and towers, creating a spacious and imposing atmosphere.
