Yuantong Temple is located in the middle section of Yuantong Street in Kunming City, adjacent to Kunming Zoo. It is one of the famous and ancient Buddhist temples in the Kunming area. The temple has a history of 1200 years and enjoys a great reputation in history. Its current scale is also large, and it is well-known in the southwest and Southeast Asia.
The temple is located at the foot of the mountain, but it is not built along the mountain. Instead, the terrain decreases as one goes inward, which is very rare in temples. The entire temple is like a garden, with green mountains behind it and emerald green pools inside. Combined with exquisite ancient architecture, the photos taken are very beautiful. What's particularly exciting is that this place integrates Chinese Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Southern Buddhist schools from Southeast Asia, and the architecture also has these various characteristics.
The temple has a high status in the southwest and Southeast Asia, with many pilgrims coming to worship every day. If you come on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar new year, there will be grand Buddhist activities in the temple, which will be very lively.
