Lijiang Old Town, also known as Dayan Town, is one of the famous towns on the Tea Horse Road. Inside the ancient city, wooden buildings and green tiles, ancient streets and stone alleys, small bridges and water, standing in the ancient city on the East Street, raise your head to look at the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the scenery is very beautiful.
What to see
Lijiang ancient city built on the mountain, the streets and lanes according to the water flow and set up, was once the trading market of the old tea-horse road. The ancient city from the Sifang Street extends out Guangyi Street, Seven Street, Wuyi Street and Xinhua Street four main roads, four roads and derived from the crisscrossing streets and alleys, constituting the ancient city with Sifang Street as the center. The Wood Mansion, which was praised by Xu Xiake as the Royal Mansion of the Wooden Tusi, is located near the entrance of Guanmen on Chiyi Street, where you can feel the connotation of Naxi national architecture.

Grand Water Wheel
Located at the entrance of the Old Town of Lijiang, the water wheel is the symbol of the Old Town of Lijiang, and you can see it as soon as you enter the gate of the ancient city. There are two waterways in total. Some people say that they are the mother and son waterways, while others say that they are the lover waterways. Almost everyone who visits the Old Town of Lijiang will leave a group photo here.
The screen wall next to the two large water trucks adopts the architectural form of the city's residential buildings, which is very unique. The image of the screen wall and the water wheel appeared in almost all the publicity photos of the Old Town of Lijiang, which I believe everyone will be very familiar with. In front of the waterwheel is a square at the entrance of the ancient city, which is not as noisy as Sifang Street, so it is also a good place for many people to sunbathe. There are also many stalls hanging wind chimes on the square, which is very interesting.
Lijiang Water Wheel | Kegong Fang House |
Kegong Fang House
Kegong Fang House is located at the west end of Sifang Street Bridge, and is a unique three story gatehouse. Many tourists take photos here when visiting the ancient city.
Lijiang has always been a region ruled by local chieftains in history. After the implementation of the policy of returning the land to the local people during the Yongzheng period, the enthusiasm of folk students to study and participate in the imperial examination became increasingly high. The Yang family in the location of Kegongfang has produced three Jurchen scholars, which is a very sensational and joyful event in a remote border ethnic minority area. So the people donated money together to build a two-story Gongfang.
Later, the Kegongfang was burned down due to a fire. It was not until the end of the Qing Dynasty that another Jinshi emerged from the alley where the Kegongfang was located. After he passed the imperial examination, the villagers rebuilt a three story Kegongfang on the site of the previously burned Kegongfang, which is now located in front of them.

It was established in the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty and is dedicated to the Puxian Bodhisattva.
