Shenyang History & Culture


Shenyang is the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty and is known as the "birthplace of one dynasty, capital of two emperors". In the fifth year of the Tianqi reign of the Ming Dynasty (1625), Emperor Taizu of the Qing Dynasty, Nurhaci, moved the capital here. Huang Taiji established the Shengjing City and founded the Qing Dynasty in China. Shenyang became one of the two capitals of the Qing Dynasty, the Shengjing Imperial City, and began to become the central city of Northeast China. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Shenyang became an important heavy industry base in China, mainly focused on equipment manufacturing. It was known as the "Ministry of Equipment of the Republic" and was praised as the "eldest son of the Republic" and the "Oriental Ruhr".
