Shaanxi History Museum


Shaanxi History Museum, located on the northwest side of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda ,  is one of the iconic attractions in Xi'an. Established in 1983, it was officially opened and named the Shaanxi History Museum on n Jan 20,1997. 

Shaanxi History Museum was selected as a "Chinese 20th Century Architectural Heritage" by the Chinese Cultural Relics Society and the Chinese Architecture Society in 2016.

Shaanxi History Museum is a large modern museum, covering an area of 65000 square meters. It houses over 380000 cultural relics from simple stone tools used in the early stages of ancient human history to various artifacts in social life before 1840.

The cultural relics collected by the Shaanxi History Museum are not only numerous and diverse, but also of high value. They are an art hall that showcases the history and culture of Shaanxi and ancient Chinese civilization.

There are many precious cultural relics in the Shaanxi History Museum, such as bronze artifacts from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, pottery figurines from various dynasties, gold and silver utensils from the Han and Tang dynasties, and Tang tomb murals. Most of these cultural relics are treasures from the prosperous period of the Han and Tang dynasties, among which there are many exquisite products prohibited by the state from leaving the country.
