Aviation
Shangri La Airport covers an area of 225 hectares and is one of the largest airports in northwest Yunnan. It has now opened flights from Shangri La to cities such as Chongqing, Kunming, Chengdu, and Lhasa.
Highway
Highways are the main mode of transportation entering Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Diqing connects the three provinces of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet, forming a transportation network with Yunnan Tibet Highway, Sichuan Tibet Highway, and Kang Tibet Highway as the main roads, making transportation relatively convenient.
In 2024, the total length of highways in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture will be 9228.261 kilometers. Among them: 78.831 kilometers of highways, 752.87 kilometers of national highways, 905.138 kilometers of provincial highways, 1454.401 kilometers of county roads, 2223.938 kilometers of township roads, and 3891.914 kilometers of village roads.
Railway
Shangri La Station will be put into operation on November 26, 2023, along with the Lijiang Shangri La Railway. The Lixiang Railway starts from Lijiang Station in Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, with a designed speed of 140 kilometers per hour and a total length of 139 kilometers. It is a national first-class single track electrified railway.
