Tangan Dong Village


Tang'an Dong Village is surrounded by green mountains, with peaks and ridges, crisscrossing paths, and terraced fields. The residential buildings on the mountainside are in line with the terrain and suspended in the air. The Drum Tower in the village is the mascot of the village, which can capture the souls of the Dong people. The Drum Tower and the Theater Tower form a trinity, showcasing the characteristics of Dong ethnic villages.

The village is well connected with winding paths. The roads in the village are all paved with bluestone slabs. The drum towers, theater towers, stilted houses, stone paved roads, ancient tomb groups, ancient ladle wells, as well as quaint and elegant objects such as water mills, stone mills, spinning wheels, etc. in Tang'an Dong Village contain profound cultural connotations of the Dong ethnic group in every corner.

There are gates built at the intersections of the nine villages, and the ancillary facilities in the villages include buildings such as hay drying, barns, water mills, stone mills, oil extraction rooms, fish ponds, well pavilions, and sacrificial ponds, all of which have their unique cultural personalities. 

In the middle of the village, there is also a cemetery with more than ten graves, mostly built in th Tang'an Village is surrounded by green mountains, with peaks and ridges, crisscrossing paths, and terraced fields. The exquisite craftsmanship of carving dragons and phoenixes, rolling grass patterns, etc. is another manifestation of the cultural heritage of the Dong ethnic group in Tang'an.

The natural scenery, ancient architecture, and folk customs of Tang'an Dong Village are all part of the ecological museum, and any physical object may become a historical record of the community and its people in the past. As a Dong ethnic cultural community and a cultural entity, Tang'an radiates throughout the entire Six Dong region. Tang'an appears to be a process of harmonious development between humans and nature. The protection and construction of this living ecological museum, as well as the heritage preservation of the entire community, will undoubtedly bring broad prospects to the tourism industry.
