Jiabang Terraced Fields Scenic Area is located in the northeast of Jiabang Township in the western part of Congjiang County of Guizhou Province.
Here, the terraced fields are the masterpiece of generations of Miao ethnic villagers' cultivation, and the hanging houses scattered among the terraced fields with unique Miao ethnic characteristics are like notes in a staff. The terraced fields climb up the mountain ridge from the Jiache River Valley, like a "ladder" connecting heaven and earth, with a height difference of nearly a kilometer.
The rice paddies of the Miao ethnic group are built along the mountains and vary with the terrain. Jiabang terraces are the essence of terraces in the world. They are not only grand in scale, but also beautiful in line.
It is more beautiful than the Yuanyang terraced fields in Yunnan Province, and more spectacular than the Longji terraced fieldsin Longsheng of Guangxi Region. It is extremely charming, especially the mountain villages, small villages, and terraced fields between the terraced fields complement each other, blending with nature and reflecting the beauty of harmony between humans and nature.
Along with planting glutinous rice in Jiabang terraced fields, carp and ducks are also raised. This ancient system of rice, fish, and duck farming has been listed as an important global agricultural cultural heritage.
