The She Meal, has existed since ancient times, is a type of food used by ethnic minorities such as the Tujia, Miao, and Dong ethnic groups in China to offer sacrifices to the state.
She Meals are usually mixed the She cuisine, wild scallions, glutinous rice, and sliced winter cured meat together. Cooked the she rice has both the sweet aroma of glutinous rice, the smoked aroma of cured meat, and the refreshing aroma of the she cuisine. As soon as the rice is cooked, the fragrance is overflowing, soft and delicious, suitable for all ages, which maks it appetizing and stimulating.
Eating the She Meals is mainly held on the She Festival, also the fifth day after the beginning of spring, which is commonly referred to as "crossing the She" or "blocking the She" in folk customs. Wuri(戊日) belongs to the earth(土), so it is a day for worshipping the Earth Bodhisattva. People pray for a smooth year, abundant grain, and peaceful family fortune.
