Topographic features
Zunyi City is located in the slope zone of the transition from the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to Hunan hills and Sichuan Basin, with large topographic relief and complex geomorphic types. The altitude is generally between 800 and 1300 meters, on the second level of terrain in the country. The area of Pingba and valley basins in Zunyi City accounts for 6.57%, hills account for 28.35%, and mountains account for 65.08%. The Daloushan Mountains stretch from southwest to northeast and serve as a watershed for the north-south water system within the city. The landform types can be divided into three categories based on their causes: erosion landform areas, erosion tectonic landform areas, and erosion landform areas. Among them, karst landforms with dissolution and erosion structures are the most widely distributed, accounting for about 75% of the land area in Zunyi City.
Climate
Zunyi City belongs to the humid monsoon zone of the subtropical plateau, with distinct four seasons throughout the year, rain and heat in the same season, a long frost free period of about 250-350 days, cloudy and low sunshine, an average annual temperature of 15.1 ℃, an annual total radiation ranging from 3253 to 3718 megajoules per square meter, an annual sunshine duration of 1000 to 1300 hours, and a sunshine rate of 23% to 29%. The overall rainfall in Zunyi City is relatively abundant, with an average annual precipitation of 900 millimeters to 1200 millimeters and a variation range of 800 millimeters to 1600 millimeters. The regional distribution of precipitation within a year is uneven, with a general trend of decreasing and increasing from east to west.
