Zunyi Overview


Zunyi City, abbreviated as "Zun" and formerly known as Bozhou, is a prefecture level city under the jurisdiction of Guizhou Province. It is located in the southwestern region of China and the northern part of Guizhou Province, with Guiyang City to the south, Chongqing City to the north, and Sichuan Province to the west. The terrain is undulating and the landform types are complex. It belongs to the humid monsoon zone of the central subtropical plateau, with distinct four seasons throughout the year, with rain and heat in the same season. As of 2023, the city has jurisdiction over 3 districts, 7 counties, 2 autonomous counties, and manages 2 county-level cities, with a total area of 30762 square kilometers. As of the end of 2024, the permanent population of Zunyi City was 6.4945 million.

Zunyi City is a sub central city in Guizhou Province, an emerging industrial city and an important agricultural production base in Guizhou Province, an important city in the central Guizhou urban agglomeration, a third tier city, an important transportation hub in southwest China to connect the north and the south, the east and the west, and the river to the sea, the core area and main corridor of the corridor of Chengdu Chongqing Central Guizhou Economic Zone, the bridgehead, main front and pilot area of Guizhou Chongqing cooperation, and has won many titles such as National Civilized City, National Forest City, National Health City, Double Support Model City, China's Excellent Tourism City, and National Garden City.
